Sleep Science
The science of 68°F.
Sleep scientists have known the optimal temperature for decades. We built a comforter that delivers it — all night, every night.
The short version
Your body needs to cool down to fall asleep and stay asleep. Most comforters trap heat and work against this process. Nova Adapt uses phase-change materials (the same tech used in astronaut suits) to absorb your excess body heat and release it back when you cool down — automatically keeping you in the ideal 65–68°F zone all night. No batteries, no wires, no apps.
01 — The Temperature Science
Why 68°F changes everything.
Your core body temperature naturally drops 1–3°F as you fall asleep — a biological trigger for melatonin release and deep sleep onset. The ambient temperature of your sleep environment directly accelerates or impedes this process.
Think of it this way: Your body is like a car engine that needs to cool down to rest. A regular comforter is like wrapping that engine in a blanket — it traps the heat. Nova Adapt is like a radiator: it pulls heat away when things get too warm and adds warmth when things cool too much.
When your environment is too warm, your body cannot complete this temperature drop efficiently. The result: longer time to fall asleep, fewer deep sleep cycles (N3/REM), and more frequent night wakings.
Research consistently identifies 65–68°F (18–20°C) as the optimal ambient range for healthy adults. Nova Adapt is the first comforter engineered specifically to maintain this window.

02 — The NovaTherm™ System
Active regulation. Passive delivery.
Phase-change materials (PCMs) absorb and release thermal energy as they shift between solid and liquid states — at a precisely defined temperature. We microencapsulate PCM in polymer shells (12–28 microns) and integrate them throughout the Nova Adapt fill.
Simple analogy: Imagine thousands of tiny ice packs woven into your comforter that never need to go back in the freezer. When you get warm, they absorb the heat (melting). When you cool down, they release warmth back (solidifying). This cycle repeats all night, automatically.

Phase-Change Core
NovaTherm™ Fill
Latent heat capacity: ~180–200 J/g. At peak body heat, capsules absorb excess energy. As you cool, they release it. Net result: your microclimate stays within the 65–68°F optimal window.

AeroWeave™ Shell
36-Direction Airflow
300TC hexagonal micro-channel weave creates directional airflow pathways, preventing the still-air boundary layer that causes hot spots and traps radiant heat.

CloudWeight™ Loft
30% Lighter
Heavy bedding constricts surface blood vessels, elevating perceived temperature. CloudWeight™ achieves equivalent insulation at 30% lower mass — reducing pressure-induced heat retention.

04 — How Nova Adapt Compares
Not all “cooling” is created equal.
Most “cooling” comforters just use breathable fabric. They let heat escape faster but don’t actively regulate temperature. Here’s how the approaches stack up:
| Feature | Regular Comforter | “Cooling” Comforter | Smart Bed System | Nova Adapt |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Active temp regulation | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| No electricity needed | Yes | Yes | No | Yes |
| Machine washable | Varies | Varies | No | Yes |
| Price range | $50–150 | $100–300 | $2,000–8,000 | From $149 |
| Absorbs excess heat | No | No | Yes | Yes (PCM) |
| Releases warmth when cool | Traps heat | Lets heat escape | Yes | Yes (PCM) |
