Everything you need to know about the Nova Adapt Comforter — before and after you back us on Kickstarter.

Product & technology

What is the Nova Adapt Comforter?

The Nova Adapt Comforter is a four-season dual-core comforter by Sleep68, the sleep-innovation arm of Casablanca (HKEX: 2223). Co-developed with the Beijing Institute of Graphene Technology, it pairs aerospace-grade graphene fiber with phase-change microfibers to actively hold you in the scientifically proven 68°F sleep zone, all night long. How is Nova Adapt different from other cooling comforters?

Most "cooling" comforters use a breathable cotton shell to vent heat passively — they let heat escape but they don't actively regulate temperature. Nova Adapt is a closed-loop active thermal system: graphene fibers generate gentle warmth on contact, while phase-change microfibers absorb excess body heat when you run hot and release it back as you cool. It's a fundamentally different mechanism, not just better fabric.

How is Nova Adapt different from a smart bed like Eight Sleep?

Smart-bed systems cost $2,000–$8,000, require electricity, a pump, and often a monthly subscription. Nova Adapt delivers similar overnight temperature regulation passively through material science — no electronics, no electricity, no app. See the full comparison →

Can couples use one Nova Adapt?

Yes. The phase-change material responds individually to each sleeper's body heat — if one partner runs hotter, the PCM on their side absorbs more. Many of our beta testers were couples who'd been fighting over the thermostat for years. One comforter solved it.

How heavy is Nova Adapt?

Approximately 30% lighter than comparable down comforters. A Queen weighs around 5.5 lbs — substantial enough to feel cozy, light enough to prevent the pressure-induced heat buildup that heavy bedding creates.

What is the Nova Adapt made from?

Outer shell: Bamboo/cotton blend, 300TC (GOTS certified, Hong Kong) · Thermal core: Graphene + phase-change microfiber blend (OEKO-TEX Standard 100, BIGT/Hong Kong) · Binding: Recycled polyester thread (GRS certified) · Animal materials: None — 100% vegan, no down, no wool.

Is the fill safe for kids and sensitive sleepers?

Yes. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified — tested against 100+ harmful substances and certified safe for skin contact. No animal materials, no chemical coatings, no flame retardants. Safe for adults, children, and sleepers with allergies or asthma.

What sizes are available?

Twin (66"×89"), Double (80"×90"), Queen (90"×96"), and King (104"×96"). All sizes are tuned for the same 60–72°F room range. You select your size via the BackerKit survey sent to every backer after the campaign closes.

Why is Sleep68 on Kickstarter if Casablanca is a public company?

Casablanca has the resources to launch through traditional retail. We chose Kickstarter because it lets us prove demand for a radical new category without diluting the parent brand, and it lets early backers help shape final decisions on sizes, weights, and colorways. The trade for backing early: up to 77% off retail.

What happens if the campaign doesn't fund?

Kickstarter only charges your card if the campaign reaches its funding goal. If it doesn't fund, you're never charged and there's no obligation. Zero financial risk.

Can I switch tiers later?

Yes — during the live campaign, you can move between tiers as long as your new target tier hasn't filled. Early Bird tiers fill on a first-come basis. After the campaign closes, your tier is locked in.

Shipping & delivery

How do I pick my size?

After the campaign ends, every backer receives a BackerKit survey where you confirm size (Twin / Double / Queen / King) and shipping address. The price you pledged covers the size you select.

Care & returns

How do I wash the Nova Adapt Comforter?

Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. Tumble dry low with a couple of clean tennis balls to maintain loft. No dry cleaning, no special detergent. The graphene and PCM fill is engineered to survive repeated washing without clumping or losing thermal performance.

Do I need a duvet cover?

No. The shell is designed for direct skin contact and is fully machine washable. The cover, frankly, becomes the comforter.

Will the cooling effect wear off over time?

No. Phase-change materials work through a physical process (melting/solidifying), not a chemical reaction. The microcapsules cycle thousands of times without degradation. With normal care, Nova Adapt's temperature regulation lasts the lifetime of the comforter.

What if I don't love it?

Sleep on it for 30 nights. If it doesn't change how you wake up, email @sleep68.casa on Instagram for a full refund — we cover return shipping. No hassle.
